Updating
DataSabi checks for updates automatically and asks before downloading anything.
In-app updates
About 10 seconds after the app opens, DataSabi checks whether a new version is available. If one is found, a dialog appears:
Update available — DataSabi X.X.X is ready to install. Buttons: Later · Update now
Click Update now to download and install it. A progress bar shows how much has been downloaded. The app restarts automatically when the download finishes. No terminal needed.
Clicking Later dismisses the dialog. The check will run again the next time you open the app.
The update check downloads a small file (latest.json) from GitHub — about 3 KB. The actual update download only happens when you click Update now.
When to reinstall the collector
The collector service (datasabi-collector) has its own version and doesn't update through the in-app dialog. You only need to reinstall it when the release notes say a new collector version is included.
When a release includes a new collector, the release notes will say so explicitly. For example: "Includes collector 0.1.3 — reinstall it for better app names."
Reinstalling the collector manually
If a release requires a new collector version, download the new .deb or .rpm from the download page and install it over the existing one:
On Ubuntu/Debian:
sudo apt install ./datasabi-collector_*_amd64.debOn Fedora:
sudo dnf install ./datasabi-collector-*.x86_64.rpmDelete old files first. Remove any previous .deb or .rpm files from your Downloads folder before running this command, so the * wildcard only matches the new file.
