Run the AppImage
The AppImage lets you run the DataSabi app without installing it system-wide. The background collector service still needs to be installed — it requires system integration that an AppImage can't provide.
Supported distributions only. The collector installs from a .deb or .rpm. This works on Ubuntu 22.04+, Debian 12+, Linux Mint 21+, Pop!_OS 22.04+, and Fedora (beta). Arch, openSUSE, and other distributions aren't supported yet.
Before you begin
- Your distribution must be supported (see above).
- You need sudo access to install the collector service.
Step 1 — Download both files
From the download page, select the AppImage tab and grab:
- The collector for your distribution:
- Ubuntu/Debian:
datasabi-collector_*_amd64.deb - Fedora:
datasabi-collector-*.x86_64.rpm
- Ubuntu/Debian:
- The AppImage:
DataSabi_*_amd64.AppImage
Step 2 — Install the collector service
On Ubuntu, Debian, Mint, Pop!_OS:
sudo apt install ./datasabi-collector_*_amd64.debOn Fedora:
sudo dnf install ./datasabi-collector-*.x86_64.rpmStep 3 — Install libfuse2
AppImages require FUSE. The package name differs by distribution:
Ubuntu 22.04 / Debian 12:
sudo apt install libfuse2Ubuntu 24.04+ / Debian 13+:
sudo apt install libfuse2t64Fedora — only needed if you get a FUSE error when running the AppImage:
sudo dnf install fuse-libsStep 4 — Make the AppImage runnable
chmod +x DataSabi_*_amd64.AppImageStep 5 — Log out and back in
You only need to do this once. Log out fully, then log back in.
Step 6 — Open DataSabi
Double-click the AppImage, or run it from a terminal:
./DataSabi_*_amd64.AppImageYou should see
- A Monitoring badge in the top-right corner
- Today's data total and a list of apps that used the network
If you see "Not connected", see Troubleshooting.
