Install on Ubuntu / Debian
This page walks you through installing DataSabi on Ubuntu 22.04+, Debian 12+, Linux Mint 21+, Pop!_OS 22.04+, and other apt-based distributions.
Before you begin
- You need Ubuntu 22.04 or later, Debian 12 or later, or a derivative built on one of these.
- You need sudo access on your machine.
- You need 64-bit x86 hardware (amd64). ARM is not yet supported.
Step 1 — Download both files
Go to the download page and grab two files for Ubuntu / Debian:
datasabi-collector_*_amd64.deb— the background serviceDataSabi_*_amd64.deb— the desktop app
Downloaded DataSabi before? Delete the old .deb files from your Downloads folder first. The * wildcard in the install command matches every .deb file with that pattern — old files will confuse it.
Step 2 — Install both packages
Open a terminal in your Downloads folder and run:
sudo apt install ./datasabi-collector_*_amd64.deb ./DataSabi_*_amd64.debThis installs the service and the app in one step and fetches any missing system libraries automatically. You'll be asked for your password.
Step 3 — Log out and back in
You only need to do this once. The installer adds your user account to the datasabi group so it can communicate with the service. That group membership doesn't take effect until you start a new login session.
Log out fully — locking the screen is not enough. On GNOME: open the system menu in the top-right corner → Power Off / Log Out → Log Out. Then log back in.
Step 4 — Open DataSabi
Search for DataSabi in your application launcher, or run this in a terminal:
datasabiYou should see
After a few seconds, the app should show:
- A Monitoring badge in the top-right corner
- Today's data total and a list of apps that have used the network
- Your current network name in the Networks panel
If you see "Not connected" instead, see Troubleshooting.
