The dashboard
The DataSabi dashboard shows you which apps have used the network on this machine, for the time range you select.
The header bar
At the top of the window:
- Total rate — current aggregate download (↓) and upload (↑) speed across all processes
- Status badge — Monitoring when the collector is running and connected; Not connected when the app can't reach it
- Settings (gear icon) — opens the Settings panel for alerts, data units, and CSV export
The app list
Below the range selector is a list of processes sorted by total usage. Each row shows:
- Rank — position by total bytes used in the selected period
- App name — resolved from the app's
.desktopfile where available, a built-in table for common system services, or the executable name - Usage share — percentage of the total for this period, shown as a bar
- Total used — combined download + upload in the selected period
Apps that haven't used the network in the current period don't appear.
Click any row to open a detail card showing the app's download and upload totals separately, along with a usage chart — hourly bars for Today, daily bars for This week and This month.
Time ranges
Use the tabs above the list to switch between:
- Today — since midnight
- This week — since Monday
- This month — since the 1st
The side column
To the right of the app list (or below it on narrow screens):
- Alerts — recent alert notifications, with the app name, bytes used, time window, and network
- Live — current upload and download rate for each active process, updated about once a second
- Networks — all known networks with their metered/unlimited status. Each has an Auto / Metered / Unlimited toggle. Auto shows what NetworkManager reports: "Auto (metered)", "Auto (unlimited)", or "Auto (unknown)"
The tray icon
DataSabi keeps a tray icon while it is running. The tooltip shows your total data usage for today. As long as the tray icon is visible, the app is running and alerts are active.
